Okay, so Crow doesn't actually get talked about during the innumerable flashbacks beyond "oh yea, there's this guy" and a sexy pinup shot. And he is apparently not allowed to get laid ever while Jack gets a goddamn harem and Yusei has two he doesn't actually care about (albeit one lost in Subspace)..... yea, I'm still continuing to maintain that if Konami didn't love to sell Blackfeather cards so much, he'd probably be just as bad off as Aki and the twins when it comes to getting duel time... because he sure as hell doesn't get relevant screentime otherwise. (okay, I haven't actually watched it yet I'll admit. But I'd like to think there would have been a couple screenshots in there if they had talked about him. THEY COULD HAVE GONE ON ABOUT BFD! WHY DIDN'T THEY!? D:)

That style you said looks familiar... it kinda reminds me of a 60's pop art sort of style. The character shots right before it sort of make me think of that too although to a lesser extent.

Also I think hope that the last frames aren't just about faithshipping (which I totally support) but the return on Aki's power. It's been said that she can see Duel Spirits, but you never 'see' those spirits. Unlike Ruka who has one who manifests (Kuribon) Aki doesn't have one that does. Also her powers have always manifested out of negative emotions. (Anger/fear)

The fact that they show her in what could be viewed as the Duel Spirit World, could be symbolic of her learning to use her powers properly, and using them without negative emotions. Which given the nature of her relationship with Yusei would make it logical that he would be there.

Also taking into consideration that Aki can call both dragons in one turn onto the field, Yusei probably can as well. So it's possible that Aki may be getting either her own upgrade, or there's going to be a fusion on pair with the Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon.

Meaning that there maybe a fusion that involves Black Rose and Stardust, or that this is Aki's new dragon.

Well, it's been implied at the very least, and I'd like to see if that is true, if perhaps she's been "barred" from the Spirit World for what she's used her abilities for and so has never been able to have a manifested spirit-a two-way communication.

So that could be the case, although I'm not entirely sure about the fusion. It sounds a bit out of left field, I mean, as much as Yuusei x Aki has gotten canonical support, it's always fragmented and just shoved in when there's a space and never at very regular intervals, so it comes out looking kind of forced. Aki's limited role in the storyline after season 2 probably contributed a lot to that, but still...

Not to mention that angel!Shooting Star looks an awful lot like Savior Star...with more wings. Anime might pull a fourth OP and show a monster that doesn't look much like what eventually came out in the anime (or at least, I didn't think the Shoooting Star in the OP and the Shooting Star in the anime looked alike, at least in head shape and coloring, I'l have to look again), but still, the current form they give doesn't contribute much to a fusion between Black Rose and Stardust, or making it look like a dragon upgrade for Aki. So I'm a little doubtful on that part.

Yeah, wasn't her VA getting married back then though? (I can't tell Seasons well.) For me, I'm used to old school boy show romances, where you don't see a lot between the couples. Much akin to how Scoopship went. You know they're a couple, they've confessed, but it's never been touched on again. In fact if you MISS the Dark Signer storyline you wouldn't realize they've both got feelings for each other.
While Aki's relationship with Yusei is more pushed to the back, it's more subtle.

Though this show has more in it for Faith and Scoop then DM or GX ever did. With DM forgetting Anzu's love confession after season 1 and then making every opening look like she was undecided.

GX... Judai didn't pay any attention to her it seems.

I suppose, for me the image of it manifesting in the Duel Spirit world, and so far it looks like a plant type dragon is what gets me.

(Black Rose never spoke to Aki... Though it shows a kind of pet mentality towards her... (lowering it's head close to her like a pet protecting it's master), Perhaps now she'll have a voice?


What happened to Yugi's VA? I'm asking because it seems to me that two leads for the Yugioh Brand seem to have bad situations with the company. If that's the case maybe that's why so much is dumped in the opening and closing credits? Maybe the animators don't hold out much hope for expanding a lot of the backstory anymore.

True, and I do prefer a more subtle relationship. I'm surprised it got as much attention as it did considering romance isn't really a big part in most shounen storylines, and it's certainly gotten more attention in 5D's than in DM and GX. And they are older, so that's to be expected, I guess.


I'm still not seeing the plant type resemblance. ;w; I've heard some people say Stardust/Z-ONE cross, which probably sounds like the closest to me, tbh. Although WHY Aki would be staring at it too just makes me wonder.

From what I heard, apparently his contract was terminated? So anything with his voice produced for YGO distributed outside of Japan (or possibly even in Japan?) is apparently illegal now. idgi either.

About the cards, apparently they did something similar for GX's last season opening. I remember a lot of cards, but they almost always showed cards in the GX openings, although usually they were the GX character's cards. Apparently DM character cards appearing in Precious Time, Glory Days, was a kind of indication that this was the last season, have a quick callback? I remember loving that opening, but I can't remember if DM cards were in it...
