Dumpin' moar arts

because i have lots of them

First sketch was drawn after the Placido/Yuusei duel, and "BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES" were running rampant across the fandom. People have already seen this on PtDC, but for those who weren't able to see the friendslocked post that this was commented to, or just missed it here it is.

[livejournal.com profile] digitalstarry  made a colored version of the bottom sketch, here.

Next sketch is ridiculous caused by the general silliness and wank caused over at GaiaOnline some weeks ago. I debated posting this one, because I feel silly for getting involved with it but...I like the drawing. :|

Basic story is, an item known as the Bento Bunny had been removed from the Cash Shop because someone claimed copyright to its design, selling her own pixellated version of it for some time. However, this caused general wank because bento animals were not really an original design, having been made often, not to mention that the person was apparently also selling bits that were similar to Gaia's other common designs, and apparently had a reputation of accusing others of stealing art. It was eventually rereleased, but not after great deals of wank were being caused over it, including an art thread with parodies of the Bento Bunny as a challenge to "copyright claims."  [livejournal.com profile] mistressminako wanted to get someone to draw a Yuusei version of it just to fuel the parody further. So I drew it.

The next one is yet ANOTHER set of [livejournal.com profile] kizunaprotector sketches, mostly me practicing with a new inking pen and gleeing over it. :)

Next is a quick sketch done for [livejournal.com profile] syntheticpoetic of a woobie snake, after he related a tale of one of his snakes being woobietastic and guilt-faced and not eating his mice food right away.

Next series of sketches is more [livejournal.com profile] kizunaprotector , after talking with Sethy after he got kidnapped by a Placido. There was chattering for a bit, then I related the idea of his having "Noise forms," like in the Starforce game he's crossed over with. When I mentioned that according to the character list I made, Placido was one of the enemies that Kizuna would have a Noise Form for, of course Sethy-mun would want me to draw it. So I did.

I determined to nerf his Noise Form abilities for a bit, I've decided to remove the ability to use Battle Cards while he's in Noise Form, as well as change the design back to more recent designs that don't have Stardust replacing his arm (which happens in the third game, I just never added that design implement to Kizuna because I didn't like it :| ). So basically he's limited to whatever abilities the Noise Form gives him.

Next art is a sketch I made from an image that popped into my head after I wrote this meme fic request involving the [livejournal.com profile] 1andnotthesame and  [livejournal.com profile] 1andnotthesame .

Next two drawings are a set of Placido/Yuu sketches that I drew for Sethy.

yeah I think she's making me ship this :P

Next is some crack sketches that I drew for [livejournal.com profile] immicolia, after she suggested that Bolger and Fire Familiar should be awesome fire-setting friends together.

and then she said it needed fire-breathing unicorns. :D

After this I tried to see if I could sketch something that was closer to anime-style rather than my usual chibi-style. Yuusei was my test subject considering he's one of my first characters to attempt drawing when I really got into making fanart and so I drew him the most. And doing that made me realize that I was drawing his marker and hair wrong the whole time. GO ME. So yeah, I'd really appreciate crit on the last three, especially since I'm having lots of trouble with body proportions and so the sketches look kinda blocky.

This first one was a result after this little ditty between me and my littlest!bro. My mom actually found this picture when she was helping me clean up my room and I was out emptying the vacuum cleaner. According to littlest!bro, she was actually impressed, instead of angry with me drawing relatively useless things. /relief

Next one is ANOTHER [livejournal.com profile] kizunaprotector sketch (I really need to stop drawing him :| ). And his head is too small for his body I know that already hurp.

And the last one is some more sludgy!ZONE Robofetusei! Littlest!bro tells me he thinks this one is the best out of the three, and I'm inclined to agree...then again I did manage to work out some kinks before I sketched out this one. I think.

That or it's the sludge. Because sludge makes everything cooler.

That sludgy!ZONE one is amazing. I have no artistic talent whatsoever (okay, I was a little better ten-some years ago when I was in college and spent all my time doodling instead of taking notes... but I am so out of practice now that I can't draw squat XD) as such I am always just floored by other people's skill. The shading on the sludgy one is great.

And I still love Bolger and the Familiar being BFF forever ♥ FIRE BREATHING UNICORNS! FUCK YES! XD

[identity profile] northwind-gale.livejournal.com 2010-06-17 02:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Coincidentally, sludgy!Yuu pictures generally take me two hours longer than most pictures. That probably says something about the effort put into said pictures. Or the time. Naw, it's all the extra shading.

Everything's better with unicorns! :D :D :D

Fire breathing unicorns and mohawks hairstyles! What more does that drawing need to be awesome?

Well, they're all awesome, really. ^^

Rainbows on fire :D! oh wait

Heee, yay lD

[identity profile] pijsan.livejournal.com 2010-06-18 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
Yay, art dump! :DDD
D'aaaw, Placido with chibi Bee-sei is so cute~. |3 And the inking and shading on sludge!ZONE is very well done. :D I like how you drew all the machinery on him too~.

Now crits: on the first Yusei, the shines in his eyes should be opposite of each other, like this:
excusetoposteevee

Also, his right eye shouldn't touch the side of his head like that - it makes his face look flat. Also also, making his face longer and pulling down his nose so that it's not almost between his eyes (exception: Mijumaru!Yuusei~! *bricked*).

And body proportions, uhhhh, well - do you draw out basic shapes for the body before putting down detail?

so so so glad for crit lD

[identity profile] northwind-gale.livejournal.com 2010-06-18 01:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I do draw basic shapes out, mostly circles and ovals and sketchy lines. But when I start putting down detail, especially when I attempt the eyes and hands, they just start...expanding somehow. Which ends up with too large hands with too large fingers and eyes that reach past the nose. Derp.

always eager to help :3

[identity profile] pijsan.livejournal.com 2010-06-19 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
Wow, I've never heard of a problem like that before. Oo Although I can see why you might expand the eyes unconsciously because YGO eyes are big to begin with.
Maybe try drawing the shapes smaller so when you make them bigger they stay relatively normal? xD;
I dunno. ;;
But yeah, hmmm...here:

yuuseiface

Can you see what I did there? 8U;

lD

[identity profile] northwind-gale.livejournal.com 2010-06-19 02:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Well the hands probably come form me always looking at my own hands in trying to figure out how to draw it in whatever position I want, and I have fingers that are longer than most...

Oooh, yes, that really helps. :D :D :D

[identity profile] crimsonfamiliar.livejournal.com 2010-06-18 09:16 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, you know I would gladly burn the world to ash with anyone...

But the art is definitely flattering.

[identity profile] northwind-gale.livejournal.com 2010-06-18 01:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I'm still a little dissatisfied with how I drew your head and all, but I'm glad you like it!
