and sawatari encouraged him to look! look at how the audience is cheering! (for sawatari!)
but in the end it's a fleeting thing
as soon as sawatari is sent to the underground they don't care anymore
and yugo's the one who won
with power.
with strenght.
with that darkness and coldness that he doesn't know about but can feel that pulse in him now.
and that's what tops has always looked for, right? strength. the ability to be number 1.

okay so as a quick refresher on that, the lancers elect to force sawatari through as a winner in the underground because you can't send yuzu or serena since roger's after them
can't send shun he's an xyz user
and we're not sure if roger's in league with fusion or not
can't send tsukikage because he's supposed to be their invisible liason between the two groups
can't send reira because she's supposed to be reiji's trump card and by his side
can't send dennis because he's been outed as a traitor and shun's still smarting from that betrayal
also we don't know where he is

so it comes down to either gongenzaka or sawatari and sawatari ended p being the more charismatic and memorable of the two so roger will be more likely to try and use him as a secondary pawn
serena disagrees on that because she wants to FIGHT and force her way through things again and hates being down here with a useless group of lancers who she feels almost no connection to so she goes all out instead of faking a loss and sawatari relishes the challenge and goes all out in his own way? and it ends in a draw but this is the genuine fun duel she was looking for that yugo's duel ended up losing out on thanks ot his sudden harsh victory?
anyways sawatari gets out, breaks the lancers out later and there's a high speed chase battle royale with an endless batch of security motorcyclers vs all the lancers on sawatari's Escape Coach
which is hilarious, but also a great bonding activity, shut up

i really like the arc you have for both yuri and yugo -- THEY'RE VERY STRONG, AND IT'S CLEAR THE TIME AND EFFORT YOU PUT INTO THEM
xyz like, as a concept is probably the weakest in comparison -- between character motives (yuto, ruri), setting, what gets accomplished in the setting, etc -- but it's not surprising considering what. you have to work with. if you want to do this whole thing as a project, you're eventually going to have to figure out This Mess, but that's a problem for future gale
